Together, Michelle and I have almost 50 years of overseas, cross-cultural experience. We both started in China, and Central Asia, learning challenging languages and adapting to a new way of life. Our passion to be a light and share good news drove us to persevere. We both went as singles, met each other at an expat fellowship over there, married, and then headed back out.

Along the way we served many around us. We organized conferences (100+ people); served as local leaders; translated and published critically important literature; trained and ministered to others; learned local music and arts; started an arts-focused non-profit; spoke, shared and gave presentations all throughout Asia, Europe, and North America; going wherever we were led.

God blessed us with two children! Our oldest was born in Texas, and our youngest was born in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Both kids are true multi-culture kids – their own Ojibwe heritage, Canadian, Texan and American – when they were younger they functioned in 5 languages – English, Chinese, Kazak, Uighur and even Korean. They prefer spicy food, but can eat anything, anywhere. They had more than 20 flights under their belts before the age of 5. And they, like their parents, have loved each place they’ve been, never missing “home” because when we are all together… it IS home.

Shane has earned an M.A. in Cross-Cultural Ministry from TWU in BC. Michelle has her B.Sc. in Elementary Childhood Education and has been registered as a teacher in Texas. Currently, Shane is serving as the ELL Supervisor and teacher at BFA, and Michelle is teaching Grade 3 at a local bilingual school. Michelle is adept at all kinds of crafts and activities. Shane loves the web, self-hosting, data-autonomy, and helping others create their own digital identity online, safely and securely. He has also taught at universities and colleges in France, China and Canada.
